Action Wheel-gunners Match
PMRPC will host ‘Action WheelGunner’ matches bi-monthly on the 3rd Sunday beginning in Oct.
Repeats bi-monthly on the 3rd Sunday.
OCT 2020 - DEC 2020
FEB 2021 - APRIL 2021 - JUNE 2021 - AUGUST 2021
‘Action WheelGunners’ is an action Pistol game open only to revolvers. And just about any revolver can participate.
There are no restrictions on barrel length, gun weight, capacity, or add-on features like compensators, barrel porting and optical sight. You can even shoot your rimfire revolver! All revolvers must be in a safe operating condition and are subject to inspection. Matches will follow the ICORE rulebook as ‘guidelines’ for our challenging, fun ‘action’ matches. Please refer to them for divisions and general match rules. However, we are not affiliated with ICORE at this time.
Holsters are required. They must be strong side only. The butt of the gun may not be located below the belt. All ammunition used during the COF must be carried on the belt, although an initial load from the pocket is acceptable.
Revolvers are placed in one of four divisions:
Open: Optical sights, compensator or ported barrel. 8-shot moon clip fed.
Limited Division: Same as Open, but with iron sights only.
Limited 6: Same as Limited, but having only 6 chambers.
Classic Division: Classic 6-shot, iron sight fed by speedloaders, no moon clips.
Rimfire: Will be scored separately and holsters are optional.
Scoring in Action WheelGunner is done the same as ICORE and IDPA. The time is recorded through the COF to which down points and penalties are added for a final stage score. We keep it simple.
Action WheelGunner uses the rules and guidelines set up for ICORE. Standard cardboard target used is the NRA D-1 commonly called the ‘Tombstone’. Scoring for Action WheelGunners is one of the more accuracy-intensive action pistol games. Steel poppers, swingers and/or moving targets that disappear may also be used. Texas stars, plate racks and steel challenge arrays are also popular. Paper and steel may be mixed.
There are penalties common to other action shooting games like foot faults, FTE, NS, etc. There are enough Rules to make it a game, but not enough to make it a pain.
