Level 1 Defensive Handgun

This course is designed to introduce the student to handling practical issues associated with the concealed carrying of a handgun for lawful self-defense.

You will learn: …how to draw from a holster or concealed carry rig; … how to balance speed, accuracy, and safety while firing; … how to clear malfunctions and gun jams; … how to quickly and safely reload with magazine or speed loader; … how to engage single and multiple targets; … how to shoot from standing and kneeling positions; … how to challenge and respond to immediate threat; … how to care for and maintain your self-defense handgun; … and what to do after a self-defensive shooting.

Course Objectives: Instill the broad fundamental skills required to safely carry and use a concealed handgun.

Course Requirements: Valid current concealed weapon license, handgun (automatic pistol or double-action revolver), 4 magazines for automatics or 3 speed loaders for revolvers, rigid holster (no cross-draw or inside the pants holsters), magazine or speed loader pouch as appropriate, 600 rounds of ammunition, eye and hearing protection, suitable range clothing, and other miscellaneous items detailed in the registration form. Classroom reference materials are included in the fee.

The fee for club members is $140 and for non-member guests $150.
