Smallbore Range Orientation

Date: Repeats every month on the fourth Saturday at 8:00 AM beginning August 25, 2018.

Introduction: There are permanently attached target stands at 50 and 100 yards that may be used for casual shooting by members and their guests who adhere to standard PMRPC safety rules. Casual shooting is defined as an activity that is not part of an organized event. Benchrest and prone are the only positions allowed for casual shooting at the 100-yard firing line. On the 50-yard side, guns may be fired from benchrest, or from standing, kneeling, sitting or prone positions. The Smallbore Range Orientation is not required for casual shooting

Successful completion of the orientation will acquaint the user with proper Range practices and allow access to the Conex for target stands and other gear necessary to shoot in competitions with targets other than permanent backers at 50 and 100 yards.

Candidates will be required to attend the CMP Rimfire Sporter Match to demonstrate safe rifle handling skills before the orientation which will be held at the conclusion of the match. Bring a .22LR caliber rifle and 70 rounds of ammunition. There is no fee for the CMP match if shot only for orientation as scores will not be reported to CMP.

Members seeking orientation for the Smallbore Range must e-mail to sign up three days prior to their chosen date.

Orientations will also be provided for match participants at the end of most regularly scheduled matches by request.
